Zero Newtons is an edition of 20 small skulls made from recycled plastic, developed especially to mark the 10th anniversary of the Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa multiples collection, and for the exhibition “Uma viagem pelos múltiplos – VOL II”. This collaboration and affinity between Pedro Pires and Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa has been a constant throughout these 10 years of the project.
The 20 skulls were made using a mixture of two different plastics: High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Polypropylene (PP). The golden rule of recycling is not to mix plastics, as doing so prevents them from being recycled again, effectively ending their lifecycle. This rule was intentionally broken, and for that reason, the edition Zero Newtons consists of 20 objects that can no longer be transformed.
