Zero Newtons is an edition of 20 small skulls made of recycled plastic, specially developed for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Carpe Diem Art and Research collection of multiples, and for the exhibition “A journey through multiples – VOL II”. This collaboration and empathy between Pedro Pires and Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa has been a constant in these 10 years of the project. The 20 skulls were made with a mixture of 2 different plastics, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Polypropylene (PP). The golden rule of recycling is not to mix plastics, because by doing so, they can no longer be recycled again, thus ending their life cycle. This rule was intentionally broken and therefore the Zero Newtons edition consists of 20 objects that cannot be transformed again.
